About Maecaron

My name is Maegan Cabañes and I love to create art and inspire people to think outside the box! I grew up in the Philippines and moved to SoCal at age 15. While culturally shocking, it pushed my creative drive, leading me to enroll in a creative art high school (SDSCPA). I pursued this further as an Illustration major at Laguna College of Art + Design. I currently hold a BFA in Illustration.

I am highly interested in working for a video game company in the future, as I love to play video games. I mostly play Hearthstone, Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends. I also love to create simpler illustrations, such as the pet illustrations I have in my portfolio. I find it more challenging for me to work simple, because I am used to rendering my paintings until I can’t anymore. I think it’s fun!

My favorite softwares to work with are Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate. I also like experimenting with Adobe Dimensions, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe InDesign.

Why Maecaron?

I find that people have a hard time remembering my name and how it’s spelled, and felt that a nickname would help aid that problem. I do love macarons and any type of dessert, therefore Maecaron felt perfect because it merged my name and one of my favorite desserts together!
